Habit: herb.
Habitat: montane rainforests, in limestone, 600 – 1700 m elevation.
Distribution: from the Indian Himalayas region, throughout Nepal, Bhutan, South China, Bangladesh, Burma, Philippines to Indonesia (Sumatera, Jawa, Lesser Sunda Islands)
Collections: Timor-Leste: Mount Perdido (ascent of Ossu), Rainforest, van Steenis 18322, 23 Dec 1953 ( LISC) ; Mount Paitxau Range , near Malahara, Cowie 11020, 28 Feb 2006 (DNA photo!, L!) .
Notes: Although there are some differences in size and shape of the leaves, it is possible that both these specimens belong to the same species.
