Occurs widely in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Africa; polyphagous, feeding on plants belonging to 9 families, with a preference for yam Dioscorea (Dioscoreaceae) . Recorded from Saint Lucia by Williams & Granara de Willink (1992) and Malumphy (2012).
