Occurs widely in tropical and subtropical areas of the Americas, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific; polyphagous, feeding on plants in 27 families; a pest of ornamentals, particularly lantana. Recorded from Saint Lucia by Williams & Cox (1984), Williams & Granara de Willink (1992), CABI (1990) and Malumphy (2012).
