Cosmopolitan, restricted to indoor plantings in cooler temperate regions; polyphagous, feeding on plants belonging to 95 families; pest of numerous crops, particularly citrus, and ornamentals. Recorded from Saint Lucia by CABI Crop Protection Compendium (2014) and Malumphy (2012, on Alpinia purpurata (Zingiberaceae) , Annona muricata and Hedychium coccineum (Zingeraceae) , and unspecified cut flowers).
Collection data. Intercepted in the UK (London), on A. muricata , 29.vii.2013, leg. D. Dennis (attacked by Diadiplosis multifila (det. Keith Harris )), and 12.viii.2013, leg. D. Dennis (attacked by Diadiplosis sp. ,? Cryptolaemus sp. , and phytoseiid mites) .
