Distribution. Western Atlantic— USA (from Massachusetts to Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil (Espírito Santo, São Paulo) ( Felder et al. 2009; Lemaitre & Tavares 2015).

Remarks. The records of Catapagurus gracilis from Brazil (including off northern coast of São Paulo; TAAF MD55, st. 64 CB 105, 23°46ʹS, 042°09ʹW, 592–610 m, 02.v.1987, 2 lots: 1 ♀ ov 1.7 mm sl, MZUSP 16811, 1 ♂ 1.9 mm sl, MZUSP 16824) by Lemaitre & Tavares (2015) extend the range in the western Atlantic farther into the southern hemisphere.
