Albunea paretii Guérin-Méneville, 1853: 47 , pl. 1, fig. 10.

Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♂, CCDB 4378 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia de Perequê-Açu , 23°25ʹ1.09ʺS, 045°03ʹ16.56ʺW, colls. F. Mantelatto & D. Distribution. Western Atlantic— Bermuda, USA (Florida), Caribbean Sea to Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Calado 1998; Melo 1999; Boyko 2002, 2010; Felder et al. 2009).

Remarks. Guérin-Méneville (1853) was uncertain about the type locality of A. paretii , once the ship that brought the specimen had been to Italy and Americas. Boyko (2002) stated that the correct locality is the Americas, probably Caribbean Sea or South America. Despite the wide range of occurrence, A. paretii is not abundant on São Paulo coast. Sequences accession numbers (GenBank): CCDB 4378—16S ( MF490153 View Materials ), COI ( MF490048 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018).
