Comm.: Neotropical, Nearctic; 21 spp. Most species are Neotropical and inquilinous in galls of other Cecidomyiidi but at least two are gall makers. They are associated at least with 11 plant families. Refs.: Möhn, 1975 (rev.); Gagné & Jaschhof, 2014 (cat.).
