Dasymutilla sleipniri Manley & Pitts 2007: 90 View Cited Treatment . Holotype, ♂, Panama CZ, Barro Colorado Island (UCDC, examined).
Diagnosis. MALE. This species can be recognized by the following combination of characters: the hypopygium is flat, lacking a medial longitudinal carina; the mesosoma, legs, and T1-2 are predominantly black; and S2 has an anteriorly situated longitudinal seta-filled pit.

Parker: 22-24.VII.1992 (1♂, EMUS) ; 3-17.XII.1997 (1♂, EMUS). PANAMA, Panama, Cerro Azul N. of Tocumen , 7.VI.1958, W.J. Hanson (1♂, EMUS) . Other material. PANAMA, Panama: Barro Colorado Island , VII-24-63 (1♂, AMNH) ; Pipeline Road , Limbo Hunt Club, L.R. Davis Jr.: 17.V.1977 (1♂, FSCA) ; 20.V.1977 (1♂, FSCA).
Remarks. This is a fairly common species in southern Central America. It is nearly identical to D. fasciventris , differing mainly in the black integumental color (reddish in D. fasciventris ).
