Comments. Similar to Janeirona bergi , Janeirona costalimai and Janeirona aurea Sampaio & Campos sp. nov. Differs from J. bergi by the maximum head width across the mandibular plates measuring less than half the head width across the eyes, inner margins of mandibular plates straight anterior to clypeus, and distal half of antennomeres I surpassing the mandibular plates. Differs from J. costalimai by the antennomeres II not clavate, labium not surpassing the middle of the metasternum, metasternum transversely arched, and head of parameres with diverging apical branches. Differs from J. aurea Sampaio & Campos sp. nov. by the dark color, antennomeres I dilated, and head of parameres with diverging apical branches. Differs from all the other species in the genus by the body length greater than 16 mm, and antennomeres I dilated with distal half surpassing the mandibular plates. After examining the photos of the holotype of Serdia stali , considering the description by Kormilev (1956), and comparing with the lectotype of Janeirona insignis , we decide proposing Janeirona stali (= Serdia stali ) a new junior synonym of Janeirona insignis . The types of both S. stali and J. insignis share the same diagnostic characters, notably the body size, the antennomeres I strongly dilated with the distal half surpassing the mandibular plates, and the proportions of the head.

Distribution: Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Santa Catarina).
