Type host: Eudynamys scolopaceus scolopaceus (Linnaeus) .

Type locality: None given.

Type material: Not found in any collection we have surveyed, and is presumed lost.

Remarks: The lice illustrated by Ansari (1958c: figs 169–177) do not belong to Cuculicola . Ansari’s illustrations of the holotype male showing features of the genitalia (drawn from a specimen where they are partially everted), the shape of the metepisternum, and the preantennal area of the head suggest that this species may be a member of the Brueelia -complex. The purported host, Eudynamys scolopaceus , is brood-parasitic of numerous host species ( Erritzøe et al. 2012). If Cuculicola jamilae is indeed a member of the Brueelia -complex, it may be a straggler from any of those hosts. However, as the illustrations are poor and the type material has not been found, it will be difficult to confirm the correct identity of C. jamilae . This species should remain as a species inquirenda until the type material can be located.
