COMMENT: Does not include Myocastor ; see Woods and Howland, 1979, J. Mammal., 60:95- 116; also see comments under Myocastoridae . Includes the genera Hexolobodon and Hyperplagiodontia (from Haiti) and Macrocapromys (from Cuba), which are known only from fossils, possibly Holocene; see Hall, 1981:866-867, 870.
