Diagnosis. Female. Body pigmentation black with metallic appearance. Wings pigmentation dark brown to black. Big size, about 25 mm in total length. Clypeus slightly wider than long or as long as wide, pointed apex, with long bristles located only in the inferior region, and punctures medium-sized, deep present only in the apical region; clypeus-eye touching for an extent equal to or greater than width of antennal socket; gena width at midlength equal to or slightly wider than eye; occipital carina strong, extending through entire gena; humeri slightly projecting; mesepisternum with short and dense bristles, punctation small and shallow; propodeal concavity widely extended in the center, propodeal striae strong in the center and weak on the sides; tergum I longer than wide with short and dense bristles, and strong, medium sized, and deep punctures; tergum II wider or as wide as long; short and dense bristles, weakly punctate. Male. Similar to females, except in clypeus with short bristles and punctation throughout, gena narrower, usually slightly wider than half of the eyes.

Material examined. 15♀, 2♂ in total. Brazil: Amazonas , 2♀ ( AMNH) , 3♀ ( INPA); Maranhão , 1♀ ( INPA); Pará , 1♀ ( MNHN) , 1♀ ( MZSP) , 6♀, 2♂ ( NHM); Piauí , 1♀ ( MZSP) .

Distribution. Brazil: Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Piauí; Nicaragua; Costa Rica; Trinidad; Colombia; Guyana; French Guiana; Ecuador; Peru; Bolivia.
