Leuropeltis urubuzense View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 4–13 View FIGURES 4 – 13 )

Dimensions of holotype 3: Total length 20 mm, width of pronotum 6 mm, length of pronotum 4 mm, width of tegmen 5 mm, length of tegmen 17 mm. Interocular space 1 mm.

General coloration brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Each article of maxillary palpi banded: dark brown proximally, light brown distally. Antennae tomentose. Compact spot in the central disk of the pronotum with nebulous form and with two divergent brown-black stripes, legs with pulvilli dark-brown, aroliae, and symmetrical, simple claws.

Head ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ) dorsally enlarged with exposed vertex under pronotum. Interocular space similar to the size of the space between the bases of antennal insertions. Maxillary palpi with third article longer than the others; fifth article shell-shaped, wider at base than at apex.

Pronotum ellipsoid ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Fore femur with ventro-cephalic margin armed with a row of 6 small spines and well-developed spine at apex ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ); ventro-caudal margin armed with two large spines, and two additional spines apically ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ).

Seventh abdominal tergite modified, in the form of two sets of parallel transverse striations ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Supra-anal plate setose on apex and prominent median edge between cerci. Cerci setose, large and narrowed apically ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Subgenital plate slightly asymmetrically setose, with median region narrowed apically; styles large and differentiated ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Right phallomere hook-shaped ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Median sclerite long, apically modified in the junction, with apex sickle-shaped ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ). Left phallomere inverted, Y-shaped, median structure sclerotized ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 4 – 13 ).
