Type material. Holotype: ♁, CHINA: Yunnan, Longyang County, Lujiang Township, Nankang Village ; 24.81667°N, 98.78333°E, elevation: 2100 m, 4-7 November 1998, Charles Griswold, David Kavanaugh and ChunLin Long leg. (HUN-NK–17). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name comes from the Latin “ furcae- ” (fork), referring to the proximal lobe of the bulb being fork-shaped; adjective.

Diagnosis. Synagelides furcatus sp. nov. resembles S. montiformis sp. nov. ( Figs 23–25 View FIGURES 23–25 , 32–33 View FIGURES 32–35 ), but can be distinguished by: the bifurcated proximal lobe and the presence of two terminal apophyses of the bulb ( Figs 15–17 View FIGURES 15–20 , 21–22 View FIGURES 21–22 ), while the proximal lobe of bulb is not bifurcated, and the bulb has only one terminal apophyse in S. montiformis sp. nov. ( Figs 23–25 View FIGURES 23–25 , 32–33 View FIGURES 32–35 ).

Description. Male (holotype). Total length 4.02. Carapace 1.92 long, 1.39 wide. Abdomen 2.13 long, 1.26 wide. Clypeus height 0.10. Eye diameters and interdistances:AME 0.51, ALE 0.25, PLE 0.25, AER 1.51, PER 1.42, EFL 1.00. Thoracic groove black, nearly U-shaped. Cervical and radial grooves obvious. Chelicerae ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 15–20 ) with two promarginal and one retromarginal tooth. Leg measurements: I 4.61 (1.59, 1.98, 0.61, 0.39), II 3.18 (0.99, 1.12, 0.68, 0.39), III 3.38 (1.01, 1.11, 0.78, 0.48), IV lost. Tibiae I and metatarsi I with two pairs of ventral macrosetae ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 15–20 ). Abdomen ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 15–20 ) long oval, dorsum with four herringbone stripes and one pair of apodemes in the middle (large with its length about 1/4 of its width), and diagonal stripes on both sides darker than herringbone stripes; venter grayish, central part with gray spots; posterior part lighter, with irregular stripes. Spinnerets gray.

Palp ( Figs 15–17 View FIGURES 15–20 , 21–22 View FIGURES 21–22 ). Bulb crack reached retrolateral edge; distal lobe small and triangular; bulb with two proximal lobes, the lower one slightly longer; retrolateral tibial apophysis finger-shaped, bent, and approximately Cshaped; intermediate tibial apophysis weak; ventral tibial apophysis spoon-shaped; distal tibial apophysis two times longer than wide; postero-retrolateral cymbial apophysis short, subequal to 1/4 of cymbium length; embolus slender; terminal apophysis wide, with a distinct bifurcated tip, smaller one finger-shaped, larger one spoon-shaped.
