Type material examined. Holotype: ♂ “[ China] Mt. Fengyangshan , Zhejiang, 12.VI.2008, leg. Liu Shenglong / LW-794” ( IZAS) . Paratypes: 1 ♂ “[ China] Mts. Fengyangshan , Zhejiang, 12.VI.2008, leg. Liu Shenglong / LW- 806” ( IZAS) , 1 ♂ “[ China] Zhejiang, Fengyangshan, Datianping , 2007-V-30 / LW-1240” ( ZFMK) .

Description. Length: 8.4 mm, length of elytra: 6.3 mm, width: 4.6 mm. Body oval, dark brown, antenna yellowish, labroclypeus shiny, remainder of dorsal surface dull, glabrous except a few long setae on head, pronotum and elytra.

Labroclypeus subtrapezoidal, little wider than long, widest at base, lateral margins weakly convex and strongly convergent to rounded anterior angles, lateral margin and ocular canthus producing a blunt angle, margins weakly reflexed; anterior margin distinctly emarginate medially; surface flat, shiny, densely, finely and coarse punctate, with few long, erect setae anteriorly; frontoclypeal suture slightly elevated and angled medially; smooth area in front of eye approximately 2.5 times as wide as long; ocular canthus short and wide, sparsely and finely punctate, with one terminal seta. Frons dull, anteriorly narrowly shiny, with fine, irregularly dense punctures, glabrous except for a few setae beside eyes and frontoclypeal suture. Eyes small, ratio of diameter/interocular width: 0.55. Antenna with 10 antennomeres; club with three antennomeres, as long as remaining antennomeres combined. Mentum anteriorly elevated and flattened.

Pronotum subtrapezoidal, moderately wide, widest at base, lateral margins moderately convex and convergent anteriorly, anterior angles produced and sharp, posterior angles blunt; anterior margin convex, marginal line widely interrupted medially; surface finely and densely punctate, with minute setae in punctures, with a moderate longitudinal impression on center of disc and two moderate round impressions at each lateral side of middle; anterior and lateral margins sparsely setose, setae of anterior margin in the middle clearly displaced from margin; hypomeron carinate. Scutellum wide, triangular, with fine and dense punctures, each bearing a minute seta, impunctate along middle.

Elytra oblong, widest at posterior third, striae weakly impressed, finely and densely punctate, intervals weakly elevated, with fine, dense punctures, with a few fine, erect, short setae, otherwise punctures with minute setae; epipleural margin robust, ending at the strongly rounded external apical angle of elytra, epipleura densely setose, apical border membraneous, with a rim of short microtrichomes.

Ventral surface dull, metasternum and metacoxa with large and dense punctures, sparsely setose, metacoxa glabrous except for a several long setae laterally. Abdominal sternites, in addition to generally distributed fine and moderately dense punctures, each with a distinct transverse row of coarse punctures each bearing a short and robust seta, punctures with microscopic setae, penultimate sternite apically with a shiny smooth chitinous border, which is one quarter as long as sternite. Mesosternum between mesocoxae narrower than mesofemur. Ratio of length of metepisternum/metacoxa: 1/1.33. Pygidium moderately convex, with fine dense punctures, along the apical margin with a few long setae.

Legs moderately long and narrow; femora with two longitudinal rows of setae, finely and moderately densely punctate. Metafemur shiny, partly dull, anterior margin acute, lacking an adjacent serrated line, posterior ventral margin medially straight, weakly widened in apical half and not serrate, dorsally not serrated, finely setose. Metatibia moderately wide and long, widest at apex, ratio width/length: 1/3.7, dorsally longitudinally convex, with two groups of spines, basal one shortly before middle, apical one at three quarter of metatibial length, with a few fine spines basally; lateral face longitudinally convex, with sparse and fine punctures particularly on basal half, with minute setae in punctures; ventral margin serrate, with three equidistant spines; medial face impunctate, apex interiorly near tarsal articulation shallowly concave. Tarsomeres impunctate dorsally, ventrally with sparse, short setae; metatarsomeres ventrally glabrous, with a strongly serrated ridge and smooth subventral longitudinal carina; first metatarsomere distinctly shorter than following two tarsomeres combined and little longer than dorsal tibial spur. Protibia short, bidentate. All claws symmetrical, feebly curved and long, with normally developed basal tooth.

Aedeagus: Fig. 71 View FIGURE 71 A–C. Habitus: Fig. 71D View FIGURE 71 . Female unknown.

Diagnosis. Maladera shenglongi Ahrens, Fabrizi & Liu , sp. n. somewhat resembles M. renardi in external appearance, sharing long narrow legs and a more elongate body shape. However, in the new species, the dorsal margin of the metatibia is not sharply carinate and the phallobase is not dorso-ventrally flattened apically.

Etymology. The new species is named after its collector, Liu Shenglong (noun in the genitive singular case).

Variation. Length: 8.1–8.6 mm, length of elytra: 6.1–6.5 mm, width: 4.6–5.0 mm.

Distribution. See map ( Fig. 127 View FIGURE 127 ) and Table 1.
