Annuals. Leaves setaceous or flat. Inflorescence a narrow panicle. Spikelets laterally compressed, with 1 floret. Glumes subequal, the lower 1-veined, awned, longer than the lemma, the upper 3-veined, unawned. Lemma hyaline, 1-veined. Palea c. i as long as lemma, without apparent veins.
