Type material. Holotype. 1 male ( BMNH): “ MALAYSIA – Sabah prov., Banjaran Crocker Mts. , GUNUNG ALAB peak, 30.IV.-27.V.1996, 1650- 1800m, M. Štrba & R. Hergovits leg.” . Paratypes. 2 males ( BMNH): “ MALAYSIA, Sabah 1993, 50 km E Kota Kinabalu, Crocker Mts. Gg. Emas, 16-27.4, leg. Strba & Jenis” .

Description. Male. Body oblong, flattened, shining, covered with brownish suberect setae. Head and pronotum brown, legs lighter, yellowish, mouthparts and antennomeres 1–5 yellow, antennomeres 6–7 darkened. Elytra brown, each elytron with 7 yellow contrasting spots: 2 subbasal, located in basal 1/3 length of elytra, 4 arranged in arcuate band in the middle of the length of elytra, and apical spot.

Head moderate in size, dorsal side almost flat, punctation dense; clypeus long, sides slightly diverging apically, anterolateral angles rounded, anterior margin shallowly emarginated. Eyes moderately large, prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 2.2 times as wide as the maximum diameter of the eye. Antennae filiform, antennomeres 6–7 (11) dark brown (antennomeres 8–11 missing in studied specimens). Pronotum slightly convex, covered with slightly sparser punctation than the head; antero-lateral corners rounded, projecting anteriorly; anterior and lateral margins gently arcuate; postero-lateral corners straight; posterior margin slightly bisinuate; PW/PL 2.33–2.40 (2.37). Scutellum relatively small, finely punctate, equilaterally triangular. Elytra oblong-oval, widest at the middle, elongated, with strong and dense punctation, distinctly denser than on pronotum; humeri well marked; EL/EW 1.24–1.55 (1.38); EL/PL 4.50–4.82 (4.64); EW/PW 1.31–1.54 (1.43); TL/EW 1.65–1.94 (1.82). Legs relatively long. Hind tibial spurs well developed, curved; dorsal spurs ca. 2.0 times as long as ventral ones, ca. 0.7 times as long as hind tarsomere 1. Ventrites I–II sparsely covered with short setae, setae are longer on mesal part of ventrite I and II, ventrite II has two transverse areas devoide of setation situated close to its anterior margin; sternites III–V closely covered with long regular setae; caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly emarginated. Tergite VII subtrapezoidal, without apodemes. Tergite VIII well sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing long setae on apical margin, with a pair of long and stout apodemes slightly diverging anteriorly; tergite IX lightly sclerotized, apical portion transverse, small, with minute setae at apex, with a pair of long apodemes; sternite IX consisting of paired plates with relatively long apical setae. Aedeagus asymmetrical. Tegmen well sclerotized, connected with penis; basal portion semicircular; parameres outcurved, the longer one is twice as long as the shorter one. Penis well sclerotized, apical portion long, narrow, with pointed apex, well exceeding the length of parameres.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements. Male (n = 3): TL 2.80–3.30 (3.10) mm; PW 1.20–1.40 (1.30) mm; PL 0.50–0.60 (0.55) mm; EL 2.30–2.70 (2.65) mm; EW 1.70–2.00 (1.85) mm.

Distribution. Borneo Isl. (Sabah).

Etymology. Latin septemmaculatus = with seven spots, refering to 7 yellow spots on each elytron.

Notes. Similar to Scirtes flavoguttatus Champion , but elytra are dark brown (not black) and yellow pattern is not so contrasting. Parameres of subequal lengths in S. flavoguttatus Champion , in S. septemmaculatus sp. n. one paramere is much longer.
