Coloration of body yellowish-brown; antennomeres IV–IX, maxillary palpi, mandibles, and hind femora darker. Elytra blackish-brown, with yellowish-brown markings and sutures; anterior markings in the form of broad transverse stripes, situated in proximal 1/5; middle transverse band consisting of five pairs of oblong spots, situated in the middle; posterior markings quadrate, situated at apex.
Head moderate in size, flat dorsally, closely covered with fine punctures; clypeus wide, expanded anterolaterally, gently concave in front margin. Eyes large, prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 1.9 times as long as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae moderate in length, slender; approximate ratio of each antennomeres (n = 1) as 1.3: 1.0: 1.2: 1.7: 1.7: 1.5: 1.3: 1.3: 1.3. Pronotum transverse, slightly convex dorsally in mesal part of the disk; closely punctate; front margin gently convex in mesal part; antero- and postero-lateral angles right-angled; lateral and posterior margins gently arcuate; PW/PL 2.5. Elytra oblong, broadest at the middle, closely covered with fine punctures; shoulder parts weakly elevated; EL/EW 1.52; EL/ PL 5.31; EW/PW 1.40; TL/EW 1.80. Legs relatively long. Hind tibial spurs long, closely covered with minute spines; dorsal spurs straight, curved laterally at apices, ca. 2.1 times as long as ventral spurs, ca. 0.7 times as long as hind tarsomere 1; ventral spurs gently curved laterally. Sternites III–IV sparsely covered with short setae; sternites V–VII closely covered with long setae. Caudal margin of sternite VII deeply concave. Tergite VIII moderately sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing short spines on caudal margin, with minute setae in lateral parts, with short apodemes protruding from antero-lateral corners. Tergite IX slightly sclerotized, with long apodemes, covered with short spines on apical margin. Sternite IX lightly sclerotized, oval, closely covered with short setae in apical part. Tegmen and penis connected; basal part of tegmen trapezoidal, concave in apical margin; parameres long, distinctly curved dorsally, pointed at apices, with small denticles near apices; basal portion of penis gently tapered anteriorly, longer than tegmen; apical part of penis long, curved dorsally, pointed and deeply excised at apex.
Female. Unknown.
Measurements. Male (n = 1): TL 5.05 mm; PW 2.00 mm; PL 0.80 mm; EL 4.25 mm; EW 2.80 mm.
Distribution. Sumatra Isl.
Etymology. This species is named after Dr. Wolfgang Schawaller (NHMS).
Notes. Externally resembling Scirtes schawalleroides sp. n., from which it differs in larger body, apical macula with acute antero-lateral angle (oblong in S. schawalleroides sp. n.); parameres distinctly curved dorsally; apical part of penis long, deeply excised at apex.
