Scirtes patkainus Champion, 1918: 266 .
= Scirtes curvipes Champion, 1918: 266 . syn. n.
Type material. Holotype of Scirtes patkainus (BMNH) : 1 male, “Type H. T.”; “ Assam Patkai Mts ”; “ Doherty ”; “ ♂ ”; “ Scirtes patkainus Ch. ”; “Fry Coll. 1905.100” . Holotype of Scirtes curvipes (BMNH) : 1 male, “Type H. T.”; “ Assam Patkai Mts ”; “ Doherty ”; “┌┬┐”; “ Scirtes curvipes Ch. ” .
Redescription. Male. Body oblong-oval, strongly convex above, shining, closely covered with brownish setae throughout. Coloration of body brown; antennomeres 1–3 yellowish-brown, apex of antennomere 11 lighter.
Head moderate in size, slightly convex above in dorsal surface, closely covered with fine punctures; clypeus long, straight in front margin. Eyes moderate in size, prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 2.3 times as long as maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae slender, reaching ca. proximal 1/3 of elytra. Pronotum slightly convex above in mesal part of the disk, punctured as on head; front and lateral margins gently arcuate; antero-lateral angles obtuse, ca. 100°; postero-lateral angles almost right-angled; posterior margin gently bisinuate; PW/PL 2.11–2.27 (2.19). Scutellum moderate in size, equilateral-triangular, punctured as on head. Elytra oblong, with slightly explanate sides, widest at the proximal 1/3, punctured stronger than on pronotum; shoulder parts distinct; EL/EW 1.36–1.45 (1.41); EL/PL 4.09–4.14 (4.12); EW/PW 1.24–1.44 (1.34); TL/EW 1.70–1.81 (1.76). Hind coxal plates rectangular. Legs relatively long; hind legs stout; hind tibial spurs long, almost straight; dorsal spurs ca. 2.0 times as long as ventral ones, ca. 0.6 times as long as tarsomere 1. Sternites III–IV sparsely covered with short setae; sternites V–VII closely covered with long setae. Caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly concave. Tergite VIII well sclerotized, wide, trapezoidal, bearing short spines on posterior margin; tergite IX membranous, with a pair of long basally diverging apodemes; sternite IX lightly sclerotized, consisting of paired subtriangular plates, posterior portion closely covered with short setae. Tegmen large, well sclerotized; basal part oblong; parameres extremely wide, asymmetrical, broadly triangular. Penis short, basal portion well sclerotized; apical portion bifid, hidden behind wide parameres, shorter than parameres.
Female unknown.
Measurements. Male (n = 2): TL 2.80 & 3.91 mm; PW 1.25 & 1.60 mm; PL 0.55 & 0.76 mm; EL 2.25 & 3.15 mm; EW 1.55 & 2.30 mm.
Distribution. India: Assam (Patkai Mts.).
Notes. Resembling Scirtes sulcigerus Champion and other uniformly dark brown species. Certain identification possible on the basis of morphology of aedeagus with extremely widened parameres.
