1 Rostrum slender, dorsally with median ridge and densely clothed with white, robust scales in basal half; median prominences of pronotum denticulate, with 2–3 acute tubercles at least in male...... sasakii group

2 Rostrum dorsally strongly convex in basal 1/3; prothorax with 5 pairs of tubercles in addition to large paired median prominences; elytra with long postscutellar patch of velvety black, ovate scales; median tubercle on interval 3 obtuse, with 1–3 rows of setiferous granules; posterior margin of ventrite 2 produced into obtuse median angle; anterior and posterior margins of ventrite 4 equidistant along entire length, not closer medially; ventrite 5 laterally strongly compressed ........................... tuberculatus group
