10. Dryopteris manipurensis (Beddome) Christensen (1905: 276)

Basionym:— Phegopteris manipurensis Beddome (1890: 83) .

Type: INDIA. Manipur: Sirohifurar, 6000–7000 ft, Watt 6423 (holotype K) .

Homotypic synonyms:— Polypodium manipurense (Beddome) Beddome (1898: 235) , Ctenitis manipurensis (Beddome) Ching 1938: 297 , Dryopsis manipurensis (Beddome) Holttum & Edwards (1986: 200) .

Heterotypic synonym: — Dryopteris copelandii Christ (1907: 216) . Type: PHILIPPINES. Luzon, District of Lepanto: Mt. Data, 2250 m, E. B. Copeland 1881 (Lectotype MICH-1287048!, isolectotypes S-P-8950!, US-00135228!, designated by Holttum & Edwards (1986)). Homotypic synonym:— Ctenitis copelandii (Christ) Copeland (1947: 124) .

Note:—The citation of MICH specimen by Holttum & Edwards (1986: 200) as “ holotype ” is accepted here as lectotypification of Dryopteris copelandii Christ. The holotype is not designated in the protologue .

This species occurs in India (Assam), Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines (northern Luzon). The remarkable disjunction of this species might have been caused by long-distance dispersal. This pattern is comparable to the disjunction of Dryopteris squamiseta (Hook.) Kuntze (1891: 813) which occurs in central and southern Africa, Bhutan, China ( Taiwan, Xizang, Yunnan), India, La Réunion, and Madagascar (Zhang & Zhang, in press).
