Basionym:— Nephrodium filix-mas var. nidus Baker (1874: 498) .

Type: INDIA. Sikkim: Yakla , 12000 ft, October 1869, C. B. Clarke 10106 (lectotype K, designated by Holttum & Edwards 1986) .

Homotypic synonyms:— Lastrea filix-mas var. nidus (Baker) Beddome (1876: 17) , Nephrodium apiciflorum var. nidus (Baker) Clarke (1880: 518) , Lastrea filix-mas var. patentissima subvar. nidus (Baker) Beddome (1883: 250) , Dryopteris filix-mas subsp. nidus (Baker) Christensen (1905: 265) , Ctenitis nidus (Baker) Ching (1938: 287) , Dryopsis nidus (Baker) Holttum & Edwards (1986: 192) .

Heterotypic synonyms: — Ctenitis contigua Ching (1981: 119) , Dryopsis contigua (Ching) Holttum & Edwards (1986: 193) . Type: CHINA. Xizang: Bomi, T. S. Ying 68 (holotype PE). — Ctenitis zayuensis Ching & Wu (1983: 273) , as “ zayüensis ”. Type: CHINA. Xizang: Zayü, 5 July 1973, Qinghai-Xizang Complex Exp. 73-602 (holotype PE).

This species occurs in China (Sichuan, Taiwan, Xizang, Yunnan), eastern Nepal, and India (Sikkim).
