Eotrogaspidia hauseri Okayasu, Lelej & Williams , sp. nov.

( Figs 3A, 3E View FIGURE 3 , 6A View FIGURE 6 , 7E View FIGURE 7 , 9 View FIGURE 9 A–B, 11A, 11D)

Diagnosis. MALE. Clypeus deeply concave, shiny, with sculptured narrow anterior border ( Fig. 6A View FIGURE 6 ); scape strongly widened apically; F1 strongly compressed, wider than F2. Pronotum with sparse subappressed and erect pale setae; propodeum dorsally with dense pale setae obscuring cuticular sculpture ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ). Metacoxa flattened with dense erect pale microsetae ( Fig. 7E View FIGURE 7 ). Hypopygium (S8) with longitudinal ridge reaching posterior 1/3 of sternum; cuspis lamellate, reaching paramere apex. FEMALE. Unknown.

Description. MALE. Body length: 8.8–9.6 mm. Forewing length: 6.0 mm.

Color and setae. Black with metasomal T1–5 and S1–5 ferruginous. Frons, lateral area of clypeus, with silvery, dense, subappressed setae; gena with silvery, dense, erect and subappressed setae; anterior clypeal border with few geyish erect setae; base of mandible, malar space, and vertex with silvery dense appressed and sparse long erect setae; vertex behind ocelli with silvery dense recumbent and sparse long erect setae; scape dorsally and pedicel with silvery recumbent and erect setae; F1 inside with silvery dense appressed pubescence, outside with sparse recumbent short setae; F2–11 with white dense pubescence; pronotum dorsally with silvery sparse subappressed and erect setae; mesopleuron with silvery dense recumbent and sparse erect setae; mesoscutum and tegula (anteriorly and mesally) with black recumbent setae; propleuron, mesoscutellum and lateral area of metanotum with grayish, sparse, appressed and erect setae; dirsum of propodeum with silvery dense recumbent setae; posterior and lateral propodeal slope with grayish, sparse, erect setae; legs with silvery, dense, suberect setae. Metasomal terga with yellowish appressed and subappressed setae, forming fringe on T1–6, sterna with sparse subappressed and erect yellow-gray setae, forming fringe on S2–6. T2 with lateral felt line, S2 without lateral felt line.

Structure. Relation of head width and mesosoma width including tegula about 90:95. Mandible bidentate at apex, without subbasal tooth on inner border and dorsal carina extending from base to subapical tooth; outer margin beneath with large subbasal tooth. Clypeus concave, shiny area defined anteriorly by carina, basal medial triangle punctate, setose. Scape slightly curved, strongly widened apically, beneath shiny with two obscure carinae. F1 strongly compressed, wider than F2, F1 length 1.25 × F2. Ocelli small, POD:OOD = 0.72. Distance between outer ocellar margins 1.2 × distance between posterior ocelli and dorsoposterior occipital border. Frons and vertex with separated punctures, gena with fine, dense punctures.

Notauli developed and almost touching anterior border of mesoscutum; parapsids less developed ½ mesoscutal length. Tegula large, blackish, smooth and shiny with few punctures anteriorly and mesally. Mesoscutellum convex with medial longitudinal carina not ending posteriorly by tubercle. Metanotum densely punctate. Pronotum and mesopleuron with moderately fine, confluent punctures; mesoscutum and mesoscutellum with moderately coarse, somewhat confluent punctures; propleuron obscurely transversally striate; inferior portions of metapleuron glabrous, microstriate and shiny. Mesopleuron beneath with precoxal smooth shiny swollen area. Metacoxa beneath flattened, carinated mesally, microsetose; mesocoxa beneath with smooth shiny area. Propodeum reticulate, dorsally with hidden sculpture.

Forewing fuscous, submarginal cell 1 large, apically subovate, approximately equal in length to marginal cell; submarginal cell 2 receiving recurrent vein at midpoint; submarginal cell 3 less distinct than submarginal cell 2 and receiving recurrent vein at midpoint.

Longitudinal carina on S1 well developed, 3/4 × as long as S 1 in profile, straight. T1–6 and posterior halves of S3–6 with moderately fine, well separated punctures, sparser on T2 disc; S1–2 with moderately coarse, separated punctures; S6–7 with lateral tubercle; hypopygium (S8) with oblique lateral carina oriented mesally, 3/4 × as long as S 8 in profile; T7 and S8 with moderately coarse, dense punctures; T7 medially with rather wide smooth, shiny area.

Paramere down-curved posteriorly, with pointed apex, dorsally carinate with row of short erect golden setae; parapenial lobe large, rounded; cuspis widely lamellate, apically rounded, densely setose, clearly surpassing apex of penis valve, with dense long erect golden setae oriented mesally; digitus stick-like setose, much shorter than cuspis; paracuspis stick-like setose, shorter than digitus; penis valves weakly asymmetrical, right penis valve slightly longer that left, with strong posterior ventral hook; left valve with strong ventral posterior hook.

FEMALE. Unknown.

Type material. 3♂. Holotype, ♂, Nepal: CHITWAN DISTRICT: Chitwan, N [ational] P[ark] Sauraha , 200 m, 27°34' N 84°29'E, 31.V.1997, M. Hauser leg. [ ZSM] GoogleMaps . Paratypes: India: TAMIL NADU: 1♂, Coimbatore , V.1947, P. Susi Nathan [ UMMZ] . Nepal: CHITWAN DISTRICT: 1♂, same data as holotype [ IBSS] GoogleMaps .

Distribution. India: Tamil Nadu. Nepal: Chitwan.

Etymology. The specific epithet is a patronym honoring Martin Hauser who collected the type series, recognized the significance of the wasps, and generously made the material available for study.

Remarks. Among the males of Eotrogaspidia , E. hauseri , E. lena and E. saussurei are recognized by the lamellate cuspis. Eotrogaspidia hauseri is rather similar to E. lena by having the cuspis reaching paramere apex, but differs by having the scape widened apically (not widened in E. lena ), the propodeum densely covered with pale setae (cuticular sculpture visible in E. lena ) and the hypopygium (S8) with longitudinal lateral ridge reaching posterior 1/3 of the sternum (reaching posterior margin in E. lena ).
