Lycocerus pacholatkoi sp. nov.

Figs. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 9. 1 – 9 , 48–50 View FIGURES 38 – 50. 38 – 40 .

Type locality. Central Laos, Kham Mouan province, Ban Khoun Ngeun, 18°07ˏN 104°29ˏE, ca 200 m a.s.l.

Type material. Holotype ( NHMB), male, “Laos-C. KHAM MOUAN pr.[ovince], Ban Khoun Ngeun, ~ 200 m, 18°07ˏN 104°29ˏE, 24.–29.iv.2001, Pacholátko leg. [white label, printed]”.

Description. Coloration ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 9. 1 – 9 ). Head egg-yolk yellow, mouthparts and antennae chestnut brown, prothorax, scutellum and elytra egg-yolk yellow, meso- and metasternum, ventral part of abdomen and legs chestnut brown, procoxae and basal half of posterior femora egg-yolk yellow.

Male. Eyes large and strongly protruding, head across eyes distinctly wider than pronotum, behind eyes strongly narrowing posteriorly, sides moderately convex. Antennae filiform, antennomeres 10–11 missing, antennae reaching ca two thirds of elytral length, antennomeres without impression. Surface of head very finely imbricate-punctate, with fine, yellow, decumbent pubescence, semilustrous. Pronotum ca as long as wide, anterior margin strongly convex, anterior corners rounded, lateral margins straight, moderately diverging posteriorly, posterior corners obtuse, posterior margin moderately convex. Pronotum with 4 distinctly delimited depressions: two oblique lateral ones, starting behind anterior margin and reaching ca two thirds of pronotal length, one oval, narrow one between them, reaching ca pronotal midlength and another one middle, roundly triangular before posterior margin. Depressions bordered by rounded elevations. Surface of pronotum sculptured and pubescent like that of head, semilustrous. Claws simple. Elytra parallel-sided, venation only very slightly indicated basally, surface of elytra very finely imbricate-punctate, with very fine, dense, yellow, short recumbent pubescence combined with much sparser and longer decumbent pubescence, matt, velvety. Aedeagus as in Figs. 48–50 View FIGURES 38 – 50. 38 – 40 , partly damaged, so that figure from ventral view is partly reconstructed.

Female unknown.

Length (male). 8.4 mm.

Differential diagnosis. Because of its pronotum with conspicuous depressions, Lycocerus pacholatkoi sp. nov. can be compared with Lycocerus multiimpressus (Wittmer, 1997) , but it strongly differs from it by the predominantly yellow coloration and longer laterophyses, which reach the apex of the dorsal part of the aedeagus (cf. Wittmer 1997a).

Etymology. Patronymic, dedicated to its collector, Petr Pacholátko (Brno, Czech Republic).

Distribution. Central Laos.
