Diagnosis. Trisuloides becheri differs from its congeners by its larger size (wingspan 60–68 mm), somewhat darker brown ground color of forewing, rather prominent whitish bordering of postmedial line, clear white subtornal mark (surrounded with black), whitish suffusion around tornal angle and wide, clearly defined terminal band on hindwing. In the male genitalia it differs by the shape of uncus, shape of valva and harpe, which is comb-like, incurved inward and strongly serrate.
Description. Adult ( Figs. 31–38 View FIGURES 31 – 38 ). Wingspan 55–60 mm. Head and thorax covered with brown hair-like scales, tegulae and patagia bordered with whitish scales; abdomen with crest on segments 1–5 formed by erected brown scales bordered with whitish outwardly; basal line indistinct, like black diffused streak; subbasal field clearly restricted by subbasal line, incurved inward and outlined inwardly by whitish suffusion; basal field shadowed, especially in costal area and in mid part, below radial trunk; orbicular distinct, reniforn indistinct, bordered inwardly with black, often surrounded with whitish suffusion; double postmedial fascia waved, peaked on veins, filled by whitish between lines; subterminal field dark brown, restricted by dentate inwardly diffused subterminal line, with intensive whitish irroration, bearing white subtornal mark shadowed with black outwardly; terminal field brown, darker to outer margin, often with whitish tornal patch or mark; terminal line as row of semilunar streaks, bordered with whitish inwardly; cilia brown. Hindwing yellow brown basally and along anal margin; terminal band dark-brown, wide, with whitish tornal mark. Male genitalia ( Figs55, 56 View FIGURES 54 – 56 , 66 View FIGURES 57 – 66 ). Uncus longer and narrower than in other species, extended medially; broad, equal to vinculum; juxta leave-like, with wide lateral flaps; valva relatively short and wide, with parallel margings, apically oblique abrupted and poined at apex; lobes of sacculus large, wide; harpe on short neck, flattened, comb-like, incurved basally, strongly serrate, bearing 8–12 acute teeth along edge; a heavily setose costal flap-like costal process (editum) moderate, elongate. Aedeagus with posterior end somewhat protruded ventrally; carina with row of minute spines, extending to vesica; vesica vide, with two short basal diverticula and medial one. Female genitalia ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 67 – 71 ). Papillae anales short, quadrangular; apophyses anterior and posterior ones short, equal in length; ostium split-like, ductus bursae short, but longer than in T. rotundipennis , and somewhat narrower than in T. sericea , proximally slightly sclerotised, ribbed; corpus bursae large, elongate, saccular.
Etymology. This species is is dedicated to Armin Becher, who kindly presented his East Asian collection for examination.
Distribution and biology. Occurs in South and South West China. Moths have been collected in July and August-September in broad-leaved montane forest at elevations of 1500–2300 m.
