Tupinambis sp.
Taxonomic remarks. Tupinambis sp. differs from other Tupinambis in some aspects of scutellation and color pattern. It is under description by M. Silva, T. Ávila-Pires, and MAR-J (submitted manuscript).
Distribution and habitat. Tupinambis sp. is distributed in the western portion of Brazilian Cerrado, Pantanal, and in open vegetation enclaves in southern Brazilian Amazonia ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). In Brazil, it is known from the state of Mato Grosso. Tupinambis sp. is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits both cerrado vegetation sensu stricto as gallery forests within the cerrado, where it is found on the open ground (personal communication with M. Silva).
