Taxonomic remarks. Cnemidophorus sp. 2 differs from other forms of the Cnemidophorus lemniscatus group in some aspects of scutellation and color pattern. It is under description by MAR-J.
Distribution and habitat. Cnemidophorus sp. 2 is endemic to Brazilian Amazonia, occurring in Amazonas state, and until now known only from the upper Negro River (both sides—Fig. 6). It is parthenogenetic, terrestrial and diurnal, and can be found in open vegetation enclaves and on sandy beaches (MZUSP data). Even though Cnemidophorus sp. 1 also occurs in the Negro river basin, the two species have not been found syntopically.
