Hydromya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830: 691 View in CoL . Type species: Hydromya coeruleipennis Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (original designation) [= Hydromya dorsalis Fabricius, 1775 View in CoL ].
Diagnosis. Male sternite 4 with a pair of cylindrical processes. Anepisternum and anepimeron bare. Subalar setae absent. Wing hyaline with 5–7 isolated dark spots; crossvein dm-cu curved.
Remarks. This monotypic genus contains a single described species, Hydromya dorsalis ( Fabricius, 1775) , which is restricted to the Palearctic Region.
Before our study, Hydromya had never been recorded from China. We found 2 males and 1 female H. dorsalis from Xinjiang and 1 male and 1 female from Inner Mongolia, both of which locations are in the Palearctic Region of China .
