Comments: This is the type genus of the family with 86 species ( Cigliano et al., 2019), and it is in dire need of revision, as in the past most species of the family were placed in Gryllacris , until Brunner von Wattenwyl (1888) and Karny (1937) came up with their generic arrangements, but some remainder genera are left within Gryllacris but do not belong to this genus, which makes the taxonomy of this and other related genera in the South East Asia region confusing. Gryllacris tesellata ( Drury, 1770) , is therefore transfered to Pissodogryllacris Karny, 1937 : Pissodogryllacris tesellata ( Drury, 1770) n. comb. It is likely that the male of this species can be conspecific with some of the species currently known only by females.
