Biology. Common in dry and mesophilous secondary habitats in Mayotte (V. Nicolas, pers. observ.). In Madagascar, collected on Coffea arabica and Saldinia sp. (both Rubiaceae ); pest of cultivated coffee in Madagascar ( Frappa 1934, Greathead 1969).

Distribution. Comoros: Mayotte (new record); Madagascar ( Frappa 1934, as Antestia clymeneis var. galtiei ; Cachan 1952, as Antestia galtiei ; Greathead 1969).

Note. The identification of the subspecies requires confirmation based on male genitalia. Considering the genitalic characters distinguishing A. clymeneis clymeneis (Kirkaldy, 1909) and A. c. galtiei and the sympatric distribution of both subspecies (see Greathead 1969) the latter probably deserves species status as suggested by Cachan (1952).
