Ecology. Eurybathic species, found at depths between 36 and 1890 m ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), on muddy, sandy and stony bottoms and on bottoms composed of mud and sand or small stones ( Broch 1948). Basibiont of many species of hydroids belonging to different genera (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero 2013, 2014). Gonothecae: December ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), January and February (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004) and February (Peña Cantero 2013).

Distribution. Circum-Antarctic ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 1998). West Antarctica : off Elephant and Peter I islands ( Broch 1948), the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero et al. 1997), off Low Island ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero 2013) and from the Antarctic Peninsula area ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004). East Antarctica : off Adélie Land (cf. Peña Cantero et al. 1997), Wilkes Land, the Balleny Islands and the Ross Sea ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), and off Queen Mary Coast ( Peña Cantero 2014).
