Indian records. Assam —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2010); Bihar —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2001); Kerala — Subhash Babu & Nayar (2004) Subhash Babu & Thomas (2007); Manipur —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2009a); Meghalaya —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2011); General record— Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Australia ( Sars 1896). A. clathratula is recorded from Kerala by Subhash Babu & Nayar (2004), who claimed that it is reported for the first time from India, yet it was already mentioned from Bihar by Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2001).
Distribution. “ Australia, the Neotropical and Ethiopian regions ” ( Smirnov 1996), also quite common in the Oriental zone ( Sanoamuang 1998; Maiphae et al. 2005; Tanaka & Ohtaka 2010) and morphologically similar populations, that may belong to cryptic species, are known from the Neotropics (e.g., Van Damme & Dumont 2010).
