Indian records. West Bengal —Ganges River — Bilgrami (1991a); Kerala coast— Robin et al. (2009), Tamil Nadu — Manikannan et al. (2011).
Remarks. Valid species described from Europe ( Lilljeborg 1853). Records from the Indian Ocean need to be revised.
Distribution. Predominantly in the Arctic Ocean and North Atlantic Ocean up to 40ºN ( Rivier 1998).
