(69) Acroperus angustatus Sars, 1863 View in CoL
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir—Sharma B.K. & Sharma B.K. (1988); West Bengal —Sharma B.K. (1978); General record—Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Norway ( Sars 1863). Its previous discrimination from A. harpae ( Baird, 1834) throughout the 20th century was based on wrong “diagnostic” traits ( Alonso 1996; Sinev 2009), so all previous records (i.e. from India) without detailed illustrations are helpless for a real species determination and should be updated.
Distribution. Definitely known only from the Palaearctic, its presence in the Oriental zone is not confirmed yet so populations should be revised ( Sinev 2009).
