Remarks. Valid species described from Germany ( Koch 1841). S. surekhae Rane, 1985 is an apparent junior synonym of S. serrulatus (Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. 1990; Orlova-Bienkowskaja 2001).
Laboratory studies on the life cycle of Simocephalus serrulatus were done by Subhash Babu and Nayar (1997).
Distribution. Widely distributed in “Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America and Australia ” ( Orlova-Bienkowskaja 2001).

Type locality. " Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur district , Kola tank near Deotal of Nagpur Road ", Madhya Pradesh, India ( Rane, 1985c) .
Indian records. Madhya Pradesh — Rane (1985c); Maharashtra — Rane (2006).
Remarks. Junior synonym of S. serrulatus (Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. 1990; Orlova-Bienkowskaja 2001). Rane (1985c) did not represent any valuable peculiarities of his taxon to be differentiated from previously described taxa.

Remarks. Apparent junior synonym of S. exspinosus (Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. 1990; Orlova-Bienkowskaja 2001), Rane (1985a) again did not present any diagnostic characters that separate this species from S. exspinosus .
