Remarks. Valid species described from Australia ( Sars 1885). Probably there is a group of similar species globally, including C. rigaudi , which is often used instead of C. cornuta ( Berner, 1987) . It is very common in freshwater (Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988), but Nandi & Das (2003) reported this species from brackishwater wetlands of West Bengal.

Observations on the life cycle of Ceriodaphnia cornuta was performed by Michael (1962), Murugan (1975b), Kanaujia (1982), Khan (1983b) and Subhash Babu & Nayar (1993).

Distribution. Widely distributed in tropics and subtropics of all continents ( Smirnov et al. 1995).
