Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir— Brehm (1936), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Raina & Vass (1993), Nath (1994), Dar et al. (2002); Karnataka — Raghunathan (1988), Rajasthan —Sharma V. et al. (2012); Tamil Nadu —Raghunathan (1983), Raghunathan & Revathi (1999a), Raghunathan & Rane (2001), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009); Uttarakhand —Kumar et al. Remarks. Valid species described from Norway ( Sars 1862b). It could be important for resolving the taxonomic status, that the Indian populations (Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988) seem to have very short additional spines on the distal part of preanal margin.
Distribution. Northern portion of the Old World, down to South China and the Philippines ( Smirnov et al. 1995).
