Amauropelta balbisii (Spreng.) A.R.Sm., PhytoKeys View in CoL 57: 17. 2015.
= Thelypteris balbisii (Spreng.) Ching, Bull. Fan Mem. Inst. Biol., Bot. View in CoL 10: 250. 1941.
Range:— Greater and Lesser Antilles; southern Mexico to Venezuela and Bolivia (LP).
Ecology:— Rare, known from only two collections in Bolivia; on rocks in and along streams and rivers in humid forests; 650–1050 m.
Notes:— Differs from A. opposita by having chartaceous linear-oblong segments with slightly revolute to planar margins, tuberculiform or peglike aerophores, sometimes septate hairs on abaxial costae, and 10–16 veins per segment. The species is much more common in other parts of its range, from southern Mexico to northern South America and the Antilles.
