Amauropelta argentina (Hieron.) Salino & T.E.Almeida, PhytoKeys View in CoL 67: 17. 2015 View Cited Treatment .
= Thelypteris argentina (Hieron.) Abbiatti, Revista Mus. La Plata, Secc. Bot. 9(36–37): 19. 1958.
Range:— Bolivia (CO, SC), Argentina, Chile.
Ecology:— Rare; terrestrial in montane forests; 1750–2600 m.
Notes:— This is reminiscent of some forms of Amauropelta oligocarpa in general aspect, but the hairs abaxially on rachises and costae are generally longer, the sori seemingly lack indusia, and stipe bases are much less scaly. Scattered hairs on the laminae abaxially, between the veins, are apically hooked (hamate). This is predominantly a Tucumano-Boliviano species but also occurs in central Chile, the only Amauropelta known from that country.
