Range: —Southern Ecuador to Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, PO, SC), northwestern Argentina.
Ecology:— Fairly common; terrestrial along streams, irrigation ditches, and wet roadsides in semihumid forests and high-elevation scrub, often within Polylepis stands; 2500–3900 m.
Notes:— Highly variable in the density and length of the hairs on the indusia and axes abaxially, with short-haired specimens approaching Amauropelta rufa ; the distinction between those two species is not always clear.
