Range:— Ecuador to Bolivia (CO, LP).
Ecology:— Fairly common; terrestrial in humid forests, sometimes along roadsides; 1700–3100 m.
Notes: —The distinction between this species and Amauropelta thomsonii is tenuous. Most specimens lack sessile glands between veins abaxially, but bear erect, tiny hairs 0.05–0.2 mm, or hairs emerge from glands; this may indicate that the transition from hairs to glands and vice versa may be ontogenetically simple and of limited taxonomic value.
