Amauropelta species

One specimen of Amauropelta, Jimenez 2493 ( UC), Depto. Tarija, 2140 m, may represent an undescribed species but is sterile, so we choose to call attention to it but not describe it. More ample fertile material is needed for comparison and identification ; we mention a few of the salient characters: Short-creeping rhizomes; fronds to 40 cm, with ca. 4 or 5 pairs of gradually reduced proximal pinnae; aerophores at pinna bases inconspicuous, tuberculiform; copious sessile, yellow-orange laminar glands abaxially; costal and rachis hairs dense abaxially, not hooked, ca. 0.3–0.4 mm, crispate; lacking costal scales; laminae with numerous hairs on and between veins adaxially; fertile fronds not seen.
