Range: —Endemic to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology:— Local and rare; saxicolous on rock faces in humid forests; 1250–1650 m.
Notes:— A miniature version of Steiropteris gardneriana , with much longer, yellowish hairs. Fuentes et al. 14356 (UC, dupl. MO not seen), from La Paz, Franz Tamayo, P.N. Madidi, Sector Tanhuara parasando el rio Pelechuco, 1834 m, is possibly an undescribed Steiropteris , probably related to S. parva (and maybe to S. gardneriana ), differing by the essentially glabrous axes abaxially (costae and rachis), erect rhizomes forming a small trunk, and small indusia. Fronds are ca. 30 cm long. It lacks aerophores, like the presumed relatives.
