Eupithecia minusculata Alphéraky, 1883 View in CoL

Eup[ithecia] minusculata Alphéraky, 1883 , Horae Societatis Entomologicae Rossicae 17 (3/4): 225, tab. 9, fig. 91. Holotype ♀ (ZISP, examined), [ China]: Kouldjà.

Alphéraky described minusculata from north western China on the basis of a single female. This species was for a long time treated by many respected European entomologists, in particular by Dietze (1913), as a form, variation or synonym of Eupithecia ultimaria Boisduval. It is, however, a separate species with differing external features and both male and female genitalia, which were first described and illustrated by Viidalepp (1975). E. minusculata occurs widely from Spain in the west through the north African Mediterranean area and Asia Minor to Mongolia in the east. Mongolia (aimags): Bayan-Khongor, Govi-Altai, Khovd, Umnugovi, Uvurkhangai.
