This species was recorded for Southern Siberia (Altai and Sajan Mts.) and Mongolia by Dietze (1913, incl. Taf. 85, figs 903, 904) and Vojnits (1975, 1977) as E. undata Freyer  and E. pygmaeata Hübner. Subsequently  , it was recorded as E. fennoscandica  in Viidalepp & Soljanikov (1977), Vojnits (1981) and Mironov (1989 a). Viidalepp (1974) rightly mentioned that the male genitalia of all species of this group, such as E. undata Freyer  , E. fennoscandica Knaben  , E. leptogrammata Staudinger  (= E. melanochroa Wehrli  ), and E. lafontaineata  , the sole north American representative of the group, are very similar to each other and only the female genitalia have very good characteristic features. Mongolia (aimags): Arkhangai, Bulgan, Govi-Altai, Khovd, Khuvsgul, Tuv, Umnugovi, Zavkhan.
