Misidentifications: Eupithecia aggregata: sensu Vojnits, 1975 ( nec Guenée, [ 1858]); Eupithecia fuscicostata: sensu Vojnits, 1975 ( nec Christoph, 1887).
A widespread and very variable Holarctic species. Specimens which we have seen from Mongolia, which were recorded erroneously as E. aggregata Guenée , E. fuscicostata Christoph ( Vojnits, 1975) , E. rivosulata Dietze ( Viidalepp & Soljanikov, 1977) and E. mongolica Vojnits , are coloured light grey with distinct transverse lines on the wings. The male genitalia of this species are also variable, especially the cornuti on the vesica of aedeagus, as well as the shape of the eighth sternite in the male. Mongolia (aimags): Arkhangai, Tuv, Zavkhan.
