Previous genera assignments.
Type host. Vitis vinifera L. ( Vitaceae ).
Type locality. Austria .
Reports in Brazil. Granja União ( Braga 1957), Caxias do Sul ( Soria et al. 1993), Bento Gonçalves ( Soria et al. 1993), Encruzilhada do Sul ( Harter et al. 2007), Candiota ( Harter et al. 2008), Dom Pedrito (31°08’46”S, 54°11’40”W) ( Siqueira 2010), Bagé (31°16’49”S, 53°59’26”W) ( Siqueira 2010), Rio Grande do Sul; Valinhos (Carvalho & Rosseto 1968), São Paulo.
Relationship to host plant. Vagrants, inhabiting buds, shoots and leaves. Infestations can cause deformation of young leaves; bronzing, necrosis and/or premature dropping of leaves can occur. Plant development can be impaired. Developed leaves turn from green to reddish-brown or yellow, depending on the grapevine varieties ( Duso & de Lillo 1996). In Brazil symptoms have been more severe as a consequence of prolonged dry summers ( Siqueira et al. 2010).
Type host plant status. Exotic, liana/vine of economic and social importance widely cultivated in domestic and commercial orchards, mainly for wine production or fresh fruit market ( Lorenzi et al. 2006).
