Protologue citation:—“in montibus Nilgherry circa Avalanchy (Perrottet!), (v. in herb. DC.)”.
Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Nilgiri Mountain , Avalanchi, 1843, G. S. Perrottet 1809 (lectotype K000708924!, designated here) ; isolectotypes P02977392!, P02977394!, P02977395!, P02977396!
Notes:— Pedicularis perrottetii was described by Bentham (1846) based on the collection of G. S. Perrottet from Nilgiri Mountain,Avalanchi, India at G herbarium, where DC. herbarium is preserved. Presently, no specimen of G. S. Perrottet from Nilgiri Mountain, India is found to be extant at G. Five duplicates of G. S. Perrottet from Nilgiri Mountain, India were traced, four at P (P02977392, P02977394, P02977395 and P02977396) and one at K (K000708924) in herbarium Benthamianum. Of these, the better preserved specimen K000708924 from herbarium Benthamianum, is designated here as the lectotype. The date 1845 mentioned on the sheet K000708924, is the date of inclusion of this specimen in herbarium Benthamianum from herbarium G (DC. herbarium), not the year of collection. The actual date of collection and collection number is written on P specimens.
