Protologue citation:—“EASTERN HIMALAYA :— Sikkim, Na-tong, (Dr. King’s collectors!); Phari, Do-tho, (Dr. King’s collector)”.
Type:— INDIA. Sikkim: Na-tong , 24 August 1878, [King’s collector] Dungboo s.n. (lectotype CAL0000018952 !, designated here) ; isolectotype DD!, K000739124!
Syntypes:— CHINA. Tibet: Chumbi & Phari (Pagri), Do-tho, 4 July 1878, [King’s collector] Dungboo s.n. (CAL0000018951!, K000739123!).
Notes:— Pedicularis odontophora was described by Prain (1889) based on the specimens collected from Na-tong, Sikkim, India and Do-tho, Phari, China by King’s collectors. Five specimens collected by (Dungboo) King’s collectors were traced, three from Na-tong, Sikkim, India (CAL0000018952, DD and K000739124) and two from Do-tho, Phari, China (CAL0000018951 and K000739123). The best one CAL0000018952, is designated here as the lectotype.
