Notes:— Pedicularis rex was described by Maximowicz (1888) based on the specimens of C. B. Clarke from Shillong, India, D. Brandis from Myanmar, J. M. Delavay from Yunnan, China and P. H. Perny from Kouy-Tcheou, China. Pertaining to type the specification given in the protologue, three specimens of J. M. Delavay from Yunnan, China at P (P00160804, P00248017 and P00248018), two specimens of P. H. Perny from Kouy-Tcheou, China at P (P00160805, P00248019), one specimen of D. Brandis from Myanmar at CAL (CAL0000019056) and two specimens of C. B. Clarke from Shillong, India one each at CAL (CAL0000019060) and K (K000739038) were traced. Of these, the best preserved specimen P00160804, is designated here as the lectotype. Husain et al. (2010) erroneously cited the specimens of G. Mann collected in July 1876 from Khasi hills, in CAL (CAL0000019057 and CAL0000019058) as type for the name P. rex , however this collection does not find mention in protologue by Maximowicz (1888).
